Sugary Drinks Linked to Cancer – Study Shows

A recent study shows sugary drinks linked to cancer. This study was published in the British Medical Journal in May of 2019. There were over 100,000 participants in this study.

100 percent fruit juices, sugar sweetened fruit juices, and artificially sweetened juices were used in this experiment. These 100,000 people were aged 18 and older. The average age was 42 years old.

The average follow up time was 5 years. Participants were required to consume fruit juice very 24 hours. The consumption of 100 percent fruit juice, and sugar sweetened fruit juice was significantly linked to cancer.

Artificial sweetened fruit juices were not linked to cancer at all. This study admits that further studies and experiments are needed. The consumption of sugary drinks increased 40 percent world wide from 1990 to 2016.

This French study has been performed by individuals over the age of 18 on the Internet. 5 major questions were asked which included date of birth, sex, educational level, smoking status, number of children, etc. The height and weight of an individual was requested.

Every 6 months weight was obtained from these individuals that participated. For the first two years two dietary records collection were required. 97 sugar drinks and 12 artificially sweetened drinks were used. The sugary drinks included 5 percent simple carbohydrates.

The sugary drinks included 100 percent fruit juices. However, for this overall study 100 percent fruit juices were separated. Soft drinks carbonated or not carbonated, syrups, 100% juice, fruit drinks, sugar sweetened hot beverages, milk based sugar sweetened beverages, sport drinks, and energy drinks were all part of the sampling.

The majority of them were women 79 percent and 21 percent comprised men. The average aged male was 42, while the average aged female was 41. 100 percent fruit juices comprised 45 percent of the drinks consumed.

Sugary drinks comprised of 10.7 grams of sugar. !00 percent fruit juices comprised 10.9 grams of sugar. 101,257 participants were used.

Sugary drinks that were not 100 percent fruit juices were consumed at 36 percent ratio. Artificially sweetened beverages comprised 19 percent of the consumption. 2193 incidents of cancer was documented in this study.

This study is alarming to me as a mostly raw food vegan. I consume orange juice almost every day. Also, I consume quite a few servings of fruits and vegetables, which include natural sugars.

This study has a lack of detailed information. I avoid all products with both aspartame and high fructose corn syrup. Also, I avoid juices with added sugar.

However, I do consume some 100 percent orange juice concentrate. I would have liked to have seen what exact “artificial sweeteners” were used. There quite a few now being used.

Aspartame is a known neurotoxin according to some reports. Processed sugar is not healthy for you and leads to weight gain. Obesity is a major health problem, in at least the United States of America.

This study does admit, that it may not be completely the result of even natural sugars. Even 100% fruit juices can contain man made substances. 4-methylimidazole was mentioned in this study.

This is an additive that only purpose is to create a caramel color. Is it too much sugar that is the culprit whether natural or man made? Is the problem with artificial sweeteners. Also, is it the problem of additives?

Who knows I do NOT know. Are even natural sugars to blame? Perhaps it is a combination of the above or just one segment.

Amino Acids Cancer – Causing Effect in Mice by Asparagine

A new study published in Nature magazine, has linked an Amino Acids Cancer causing agent in lab Mice. I do NOT support any forms of animal testing, including mice. However, the current medical industry performs these tests without recourse.

Lab mice were injected with cancer tumor cells. These lab mice were seperated into two basic groups. One group were given foods with higher amounts of asparagine.

The second group was fed foods with lower amounts of asparagine. What then occurred surprised me, aloughth I am not a nutritionist, medical doctor, etc. nor do I ever give out medical advice. These mice that consumed foods with lower levels of the natural amino acid Asparagine survived longer because these cancer tumors stopped spreading.

These mice were intentionally infected to study breast cancer. Also, some of these mice were given man made drugs to block the ingestion of the natural amino acid asparagine. I am surprised by this study because asparagine is a natural amino acid that is found in Asparagus.

Actually, asparagus was named after the asparagine amino acid. Asparagus is a natural vegetable that is supposedly healthy for us humans. However, this study was performed on lab mice, so I have no idea what the results would be on humans. Also, lab mice that were fed higher amounts of asparagine succumbed to cancer in a couple of weeks.

Asparagine is NOT only found in just Asparagus. This is a natural amino acid found in fruits, vegetables, animal flesh, etc. Chicken eggs, potatoes, nuts, and soy have higher amounts of this amino acid.

This study does NOT link asparagus or even asparagine amino acid to cancer in humans. However, the results to me were contrary to what I would have expected. Many fruits and vegetables have low levels of asparagine.

I was NOT able to read this entire study, as Nature magazine requires a paid subscription to access the full study on their website. You can contribute financially to my one person veganarchism revolution, so that in the future I can bring you more comprehensive reports.

Alcohol Can Increase – Cancer Risk by Destroying DNA Study Shows

A new study shows that drinking Alcohol can increase your risk of obtaining Cancer. Also, this study claims that drinking alcohol can destroy DeoxyriboNucleic Acid, there by possibly causing cancer. However, this scientific study was performed on Mice.

As a mostly raw food Vegan, I have certain hesitation with regards to animal testing. Also, I have only drank one alcoholic beverage in three and a half years. The last beverage I drank containing alcohol was a Coors beer.

Beer has always fucking tasted nasty to me. I guess it is an acquired taste or something. Anyways, alcohol that humans consume is actually ethanol, which is a processed sugar.

These mice were given doses of alcohol and supposedly it caused permenant damage to them. This study was partly funded by Cancer Research United Kingdom and published in Nature today. These mice were given diluted amounts of alcohol.

These researchers than analyzed chromosome and DNA. They found that DNA was damaged in blood stem cells.

“Some cancers develop due to DNA damage in stem cells. While some damage occurs by chance, our findings suggest that drinking alcohol can increase the risk of this damage.”

Professor Ketan Patel

Allegedly, millions of humans world wide lack certain enzymes that help to try to break down ethanol in alcohol. Individuals lacking these enzymes get extremely sick when consuming alcohol. 12,000 cases of cancer in the United Kingdom each year are attributed to consumption of alcohol.

These scientists warn that just because you have natural enzymes to break down alcohol, does not mean that you will not become susceptible to Cancer. I do not miss drinking alcohol and rarely even crave it. The one Coors beer I consumed in the past three and a half years, was given to me.

The B Vitamins – Supplements in High Doses May Cause Cancer

A new study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, claims that individuals using high doses of vitamin B, vitamin B-6, and vitamin B-12 supplements, may contract cancer. A total of seventy seven thousand one hundred eighteen individuals participated in this study. They were aged fifty to seventy six years.

On average these individuals had been using supplements for ten years. They were recruited for this study from year two thousand to year two thousand two. Interestingly enough, women using these same supplements were not susceptible to cancer.

However, men ingesting these vitamin B, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12 supplements had a thirty to forty percent increase risk of obtaining cancer. None of them ingested multiple vitamins. Men whom had ingested these vitamins for ten years had a fifty percent risk of contracting cancer.

Individuals that were smoking tobacco products had an even greater risk of obtaining cancer. People from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, in Columbus, Ohio, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, in Seattle, Washington, and the College of Public Health and College of Medicine, National Taiwan University, in Taipei, Taiwan created this study. Vitamin B6 and B12 supplements are supposed to increase energy and your metabolism.

Dosages of B6 were just 20 milligrams per day. Dosages for B12 were fifty five micrograms. This study was published in the August twenty second two thousand seventeen edition of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Before this study, these supplements were thought to actually lower cancer risk. The following factors were used in this study:

* smoking history
* age
* race
* educational background
* body size
* alcoholic beverage consumption
* cancer or chronic lung disease history
* family lung cancer history
* anti-inflammatory drug usage

Theodore Brasky, Doctor of Philosphy, of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, was quoted as saying:

“This sets all of these other influencing factors as equal, so we are left with a less confounded effect of long-term B6 and B12 super-supplementation. Our data shows that taking high doses of B6 and B12 over a very long period of time could contribute to lung cancer incidence rates in male smokers. This is certainly a concern worthy of further evaluation.”

Johnson and Johnson Sued – Resulting in $417 Million Talcum Fine

Johnson & Johnson Services Incorporated has lost a lawsuit with one of their former customers. This company is required to pay four hundred seventeen million dollars in damagers to one person. Eva Echevarria claimed that talc in some Johnson & Johnson baby powder caused her ovarian cancer.

She had been using Johnson and Johnson baby talcum powder for years. A jury awarded her the four hundred seventeen million dollar payout. Eva claims she used this talcum powder ever since the nineteen fifties.

She did not quit using this powder until two thousand sixteen. She acquired cancer in two thousand seven. Part of the lawsuit claims that Johnson & Johnson does not properly warn purchasers of potential cancer risks in their talcum powder.

Sixty eight million dollars to get paid out is compensatory damages. While remaining three hundred forty million dollars is punitive damages. Eva’s attorney Mark Robinson is quoted as saying:

“Showed the jury that Johnson & Johnson knew about the risks of talc and ovarian cancer. Johnson & Johnson had many warning bells over a 30 year period but failed to warn the women who were buying its product.”

Carol Goodrich, a Johnson & Johnson spokeswoman claimed that this company is going to appeal this ruling. In May another female user of this same baby talcum powder was awarded over one hundred million dollars in a seperate suit. This St. Louis, Missouri woman was diagnosed with overian cancer too.

Three other lawsuits last year awarded over three hundred million dollars to users of Johnson & Johnson’s talc baby powder. Over one thousand lawsuits have been filed against Johnson & Johnson for this same issue and same product. However, not every individual has won their lawsuits.

Also, not every winner so to speak, has been awarded millions of dollars. This definately seems like a pattern of losing customers, who acquired cancer from Johnson & Johnson’s talc baby powder. Johnson & Johnson Services incorporated is not out of the woods yet.

There are future pending lawsuits against them for the same problem.

Johnson and Johnson Sued – Resulting in $110M Talc Powder Fine

A sixty two year old woman Lois Slemp, was recently awarded one hundred ten million dollars, from a lawsuit filed against Johnson and Johnson. She used their talcum powder products for over forty years. In two thousand twelve she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Also, this woman used baby talcum powder. This huge settlement was awarded by a Virginia jury. Also, there are around one thousand two hundred similar active legal cases against Johnson and Johnson.

Last year a family of a now since deceased cancer patient was awarded seventy two million dollars. That legal case was settled in a Missouri court also by a jury. Scientific studies were used in both court cases, claiming that there is a link between higher cancer rates and Johnson and Johnson talcum powder.

Allegedly, Johnson and Johnson is aware of this link and yet still produces talcum powder that can increase a persons likelyhood of obtaining cancer. Johnson and Johnson plans on appealing most if not all these high settlement cases. This company still claims that their Johnson and Johnson talcum powder is safe.

University of Texas – Anderson Cancer Center Lay Off 1000 People

The University of Texas’ Anderson Cancer Center laid off around one thousand employees. These job cuts will save this medical center around one hundred twenty million dollars. Close to eight hundred to nine hundred staff members will receive pink slips.

Doctors and clinical care nurses will live to see another day, so to speak. Remaining one hundred to two hundred positions will disappear due to attrition and retiring individuals. This is a five percent cut of University of Texas Medical Centers’ twenty thousand employees.

Big cheeses at this medical center claimed they lost fifty million dollars in both October and September of two thousand sixteen. MD Anderson Cancer Center has paid their president Dr. Ronald DePinho, a two hundred eight thousand dollar bonus. Ronald claims he will donate this performance bonus back to this institution.

This cancer center is one of forty seven officially designated by the National Cancer Institute. According to the American Cancer Society, over one million six hundred eighty thousand individuals will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Around six hundred one thousand people are estimated to die this year.

Texas has a total of three cancer center’s officially observed by the National Cancer Institute, including University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center. Texas estimates of yearly cancer patients are one hundred sixteen thousand. Death estimates are close to forty three thousand per annum.
